How the math works
- Mowing is your price per visit times the visits in a month: 4 for weekly, 2 for every two weeks. A visit never goes below your minimum.
- Cleanup is billed per operator-hour, crew size times hours, with a one-hour minimum.
- Mulch is priced per cubic yard installed and sod per square foot installed. Each lawn treatment is priced per application. Without mowing, each application is its own visit for travel and the minimum.
- With both ticked, the aeration and fertilization bundle takes 10% off the pair, the low end of the ten to fifteen percent the guide cites.
- The quote total is the first month of mowing plus any one-time work. After that the customer pays the monthly figure.
- Travel goes on its own line, per visit. Cleanup and haul-away goes on as an included line, so the customer sees it in writing.

Landscaping pricing questions, answered
How does this calculator price a landscaping job?
Recurring mowing is your price per visit times the visits in a month: 4 for weekly service and 2 for every two weeks. No visit goes below your minimum. Cleanups are billed by the operator-hour with a one-hour minimum, so two people for three hours is six billable hours. Mulch is priced per cubic yard installed, sod per square foot installed, and each lawn treatment per application. The quote total is the first month of mowing plus any one-time work, with travel and an included cleanup and haul-away line spelled out.
How much should I charge to mow a lawn?
Standard residential mowing runs roughly $30 to $85 a visit in 2026, and a typical quarter-acre lot lands near $50 to $55. Sold as weekly service, that is about $120 to $220 a month. Price a biweekly visit higher than a weekly one, because the grass is taller every time you arrive, and hold a minimum so the smallest stops still pay for the drive.
What do landscapers charge per hour?
Hourly rates for landscaping and lawn care crews generally fall between $50 and $90 per operator-hour in 2026, and most companies enforce a one-hour minimum. Hourly fits work you cannot size up front, like an overgrown lot or storm debris. Give the customer a range before you start ("four to six hours, so $260 to $390 at our rate") and write the rate per operator.
How much does mulch cost per yard installed?
Mulch delivered and spread runs about $75 to $135 per cubic yard in 2026, depending on the mulch and how far it has to be wheelbarrowed. One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep. New sod, installed with basic soil prep, runs roughly $1 to $3 per square foot.
