How to print
- Download the print-at-home PDF and load letter-size cardstock your printer can take.
- Print double-sided at 100% (actual size), not "fit to page". For door hangers and postcards, pick "flip on long edge". Try one sheet on plain paper first.
- Cut on the guides with a paper trimmer.
- For door hangers, punch the dotted hole with a 1.25 inch circle punch or cut it with a craft knife, then cut the slit.
Home printers leave a thin white edge around the sheet. For color all the way to the edge, use a print shop.
- Download the print-shop PDF and upload it to a local or online printer.
- Ask for the size (4.25 x 11 in door hanger, 8.5 x 11 in flyer or 6 x 4 in postcard) and a heavier stock.
- Door hangers need die cutting. The last page of the file is the die line for the trim, hole and slit.
Questions
Can I put door hangers in mailboxes?
No. Federal law (18 U.S.C. 1725) makes it an offense to put flyers and similar items without postage in a mailbox, so hang them on the door handle instead.
Do I need a permit to hand out door hangers?
Some towns require a solicitor or distribution permit, and some HOAs don't allow them. Check with your city before a big drop.
What size is a door hanger?
This tool makes the common 4.25 by 11 inch size, two to a letter sheet for home printing. The print-shop file includes bleed and a die line for the hole. Flyers are 8.5 by 11 inches and postcards 6 by 4 inches.
Is it really free?
