Free quote generator questions, answered
Is the EosLog quote generator really free?
Yes. Generate as many quote PDFs as you want, free, with no account required. EosLog is the paid product behind the tool. Try the free PDF generator first, sign up for the full app only if you want to track quotes, send them by email, and get notified when customers view them.
Do I need an account to generate a PDF?
No. Fill out the form and click Generate PDF. You'll get a PDF plus a private link you can download, share with your customer, or email to yourself. We keep the quote for 90 days so that link keeps working, then delete it automatically. Import it into a free EosLog account if you want to keep and track it.
What format is the generated quote?
A standard PDF (Letter size) with your company logo, a clean line-item table, calculated totals with tax and discount, and your contact info in the header and footer. Print it, email it, or upload it anywhere.
Can I add my own logo to the quote?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP file under 2MB and it appears in the header of the PDF. The logo is stored only alongside your generated quote and is deleted with it after 90 days.
What's the difference between a quote and an invoice?
A quote proposes a price before the work: the scope, line items, and terms the customer approves. An invoice requests payment for work done: what was completed, what is owed, and how to pay. Same line items, different moment. Send the quote first; once the work is approved and finished, the invoice bills what was agreed.
How long does my quote link stay live?
Shareable quote links stay live for 90 days, then the quote is deleted automatically. Import it into a free EosLog account before then if you want to keep it.
What trades is the quote generator built for?
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning, pest control, handyman, pressure washing, and property management, each with tailored line items and pricing prompts. The generic version works for any service business.
How do I price a handyman job?
Most handymen charge a service-call fee that includes the first hour ($75–$150), then hourly after ($65–$95/hr). For known tasks (TV mount, faucet swap, drywall patch) use flat-rate pricing. Always quote materials separately.
Should I charge a service-call fee?
Yes. It covers your drive time and protects you from estimate-only customers who never book. Most handymen charge $75 to $150 and apply it toward the work if the customer hires you. Spell this out on the quote so there's no surprise at billing.
Should I quote labor and materials separately?
Yes. Itemize labor and materials on every quote. Customers want to know what they're paying for, and it makes warranty conversations easier later. Mark up materials 20 to 40 percent over your cost (industry standard for handyman work).
How long should a handyman quote be valid?
Service-call quotes: 7–14 days (small jobs, predictable parts cost). Project quotes (deck repair, install jobs): 30 days because lumber and material pricing changes. State the expiration date so customers know to lock in.
