As it should appear on every contractor's copy. Calendar year 2026: this is the IRS form for payments made in 2026.

Shown in full on every copy, as the IRS requires.

Your business name, address and phone are remembered on this device for next time. Your tax ID never is.

Filing with the IRS: Copy A can't be printed from a website: the IRS says self-printed copies can't be scanned and must not be filed. File it on the official red paper form, or e-file free through the IRS's IRIS system. This tool doesn't file anything for you.

Questions

Do I need to send a 1099-NEC?

Generally, yes if your business paid someone who is not your employee $2,000 or more for services in 2026. For tax years beginning after 2025 the IRS raised the minimum to $2,000. You also file one for anyone you backup withheld from (box 4), whatever the amount, and payments to most corporations are generally not reported. See the IRS instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC for your case. This tool isn't tax advice.

When are 1099-NEC forms due?

The IRS instructions say to give Copy B to the contractor and file the form with the IRS by January 31. When that date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, it moves to the next business day, so for 2026 payments the date is February 1, 2027, because January 31 is a Sunday.

Why can't I print Copy A here?

The IRS's own PDF says a self-printed Copy A can't be scanned and must not be filed, and the IRS may charge a penalty for forms it can't scan. File online for free through IRIS, the IRS's Information Return Intake System, or order the official red forms from the IRS. The same notice says that with 10 or more information returns in total, you may be required to e-file. This page doesn't file anything for you.

Can Copy B show only the last 4 digits of the contractor's tax ID?

Yes. The form's Instructions for Recipient say Copy B may show only the last four digits, and the IRS instructions allow filers to truncate a recipient's TIN on the copies they give out. Your own tax ID can't be shortened on any copy, and Copy 1 for the state shows the contractor's full number.

Where do I get the contractor's details?

From the W-9 they gave you. If you don't have one, send them our free W-9 page.

Is it safe to type tax IDs here?

The forms are filled inside your browser tab. EosLog never receives the tax IDs, they are not saved, and they are cleared when you leave the page. Your business name, address and phone can be remembered on this device for next time. Your tax ID is not.

Can I import my contractors from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Save it as a CSV file whose first row has the headers name, tin, street, city, state, zip and amount, plus tin_type (ssn or ein) if you can. Without it, a tax ID with no dashes is left for you to mark as an SSN or EIN. States can be postal codes or full names. Other columns are skipped. Up to 100 contractors at a time. The template link in step 2 gives you a file to start from.
